The Story

This was my first car, and arguably the most fun. I purchased this Impreza in February 2017, and it was one of the first "redesigned" Impreza's in the state of Maryland. Immediately, I needed to stand out and not look like every other basic Subaru, so I got the windows tinted with a 20% film and swapped the wheels over to wheels off a 2013 Subaru WRX. The final touch was cheap, plasti-dipping, the chrome roof rails to matte black. For $500 in parts, it changed up the look of the car, and the nameless axle-back made it much louder (if not too loud).

The second exhaust I installed on the car has a backstory. One day, I was reading through one of the Facebook groups and a member of the group had installed a custom-fabricated exhaust on their 2017 Impreza. I hesitated on getting another fabricated, and once I had saved up some funds, asked about buying a clone or the exact unit, but unfortunately, they sold the car with the exhaust still on it. I called the dealer, but someone had already purchased the Impreza, and miraculously the new buyer made it to the same forum, looking for a louder exhaust. My Nameless exhaust was a bit too loud for everyday driving, so I immediately knew I had to swap with the custom fabricated exhaust.

Like any typical 17-year-old, I was convinced this Subaru was destined for rally greatness. In just two years, I clocked 100,000 miles, sending it airborne, through water crossings, sideways in deep snow, and even one incident of getting stuck on the beach.

Despite its modest 152 hp output, I relentlessly squeezed every ounce of power, pressing the pedal to the floor whenever I could. Unfortunately, the CVT posed a challenge; I went through three transmissions during my ownership. The engine, rather fragile, was replaced thrice, all fortunately covered under warranty.
