The Story

This car's story starts way back in September of 2020. I was looking for a good daily, but being 16 at the time, my parents had some restrictions. I wanted something easy to work on, fun, dailyable, and manual. They wanted something safe, cheep to insure, and not a coupe. Yes they even said no to a Miata. So I had limited options, it took a while, but I saw this car on marketplace one day and the color stuck out to me first. After doing more research on the car, and falling in love with the sound of the 5 cylinder, I knew I had to own that car. It took 6 months of convincing of both my parents to let me buy the car, and for the current owner to sell it to me, but on March 12 of 2021 I owned the dream car I never knew was my dream car. As of currently writing this, I am one day away from owning this car for a year, and I can't express how happy this car has made me, and the experiences I've had with it. I finally got to turn wrenches on it, do an oil change, so many things I had wanted to do. For the first half year of owning the car, all I did was maintenance. PCV system, radiator (after it blew up on me at a car meet), fixing a boost leak, making the brake lights work, and so many other little things I can't remember. Over time the car earned the nickname, banana wagon, banan, big bird, and other things like that. I also got to meet Michael Jingle (blue Volvo) who was featured on ThatDudeInBlue's channel, also another influence on me buying this car. In September I finally got my first few performance modifications. A local friend of mine reached out and offered to give me some rear shocks and a strut brace, since he used to race these cars back in the day but had no use for the parts now. I also ordered a custom Wilwood brake kit to improve stopping capabilities (and fix the warped front rotors) It took a while, as it was custom, but it paid off. Shortly after that I went to Tennessee to visit family for thanksgiving, and I finally got to do something I always wanted to do: a POV with exhaust sound video. I have a Youtube channel myself (sawilson if you want to check it out). One of the things that first made me fall in love with the car was a youtube video of the exhaust sound. It was so much fun to listen to thinking "I'll have that one day". Since my exhaust setup was similar, I decided to recreate that video in my own way through the hills of Tennessee, and it made me fall in love with the car all over again. After that, I ordered a custom VAST tune, that I am still making adjustments to as of writing this. In the future I should be rebuilding the engine to handle north of 400whp, as well as adding an R front bumper to complete the R look (since it is a T5 with a lot of R parts). Even with it's minor issues, and sometimes less than ideal suspension, I wouldn't trade it for any other car
